The New Arrivals School
- The New Arrivals Institute (NAI), a Greensboro-based non-profit, developed a program called The New Arrivals School which provides educational opportunities for refugee communities in Guilford county. 
- The New Arrivals School offers programs such as English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) taught by instructors from Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC). 
- Other classes offered by NAI include cultural orientation, health literacy, employment classes, and individual educational counseling 
- To support adults with childcare responsibilities, a daycare for preschool-age kids (i.e., 3 months – 5 years) is available while adults are in class. 
- Greensboro Transport Authority partners with New Arrivals to provide direct transportation from the Douglas Depot to the school.

Doris Henderson Newcomers School
- The Doris Henderson Newcomers School is a kindergarten through K-12 school serving recently arrived immigrant and refugee students in grades 3-12 who are novice English speakers. 
- Students are eligible for a maximum of 1 year of enrollment at the Newcomers School. 
- Focused instruction is provided by staff members in English as a Second Language. The curriculum covers Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, English Language Arts, Art, and Physical Education. 
- Field trips into the community provide students the opportunity to learn about and experience important people and places in their new surroundings.

Reading Connections
- Reading Connections is a non-profit that serves any Guilford County adult over the age of 18 who wants to improve their literacy skills. 
- Programs include ESOL, family literacy, computer literacy, and career coaching.
